Forgive the funnies: all you need is a healthy survival ethic

It is (very) dangerous to drive (anything !!) ..or even walk...

:o

mainly because the Viet Nam mindset has no equal when it comes
to "doing it their way".  Seriously.

Yes, there are rules. Predominantly ignored. Traffic lights?
I'll be conservative and (suggest) approx. 20% obey, the rest (don't)
ignore you; they just avoid you, (so for the love of God: don't stop !!!)

Yes, walking will change your mind very quickly. Footpaths are only
for Cafe' dining (and) alternate routes for motorbikes. One-way streets
only exist in the minds of whoever planned them, only trucks & buses
have right-of-way, police only collect coffee money...

COMPLETELY different from Thailand (or any other culture..?), so I
would strongly suggest you arrive & experience it for yourself and
(even then) You'll have your rationale severely challenged

I also suggest a taxi (or Grab a motorbike?) to witness it all while
you (try to) believe in the (complete) absence of rule-of-law
(taxi transport works out far cheaper than owning a car)

Those few of us expats left alive are now believers

   I trust you will too...
